Was thinking about what language should I pick for writing an #EPUB tutorial then got a bit depressed because I’m not sure if people still read technical articles anymore, but I hope I’m wrong: (you can also suggest other languages if you have a good argument for it, since I can write bad code in many languages).

I just bought a book on Amazon UK in the dreadful Kindle format. I used to be able to convert it with Calibre to my preferred epub format, which I use on my Boox Leaf 2 e-reader.

It's not working anymore. There's a strange directory created when I download the book to my Macbook using the Kindle app with several files with exotic extensions.

Anybody knows how I can convert to epub and unlock DRM?

🤔 hmmm... Connaissez-vous un lecteur de fichiers #epub et #pdf pour terminaux Android (smartphone et liseuse) qui permette de sauvegarder les citations sur un cloud autre que #GoogleDrive ?

L'idéal serait de pouvoir utiliser un accès #webDAV à mon espace chez #Infomaniak (où j'ai déjà un dossier "Livres numériques" rempli de fichiers). Ou au moins un cloud indépendant, qui puisse synchroniser entre au moins deux appareils et exporter les citations au format texte simple...

est-ce que vous connaissez des magasins de livres électroniques qui vendent sans DRM , ou bien avec un DRM facilement enlevable si c'est pour son usage perso? ça me saoule un peu, je voulais partir d'Amazon et Kindle mais en fait chez Kobo c'est des DRM Adobe Digital Edition, ça semble encore plus galère à enlever 😬 je pensais y arriver avec Calibre, mais pour le moment sans succès... #ebooks #epub #DRM

Il raconte l’histoire du mètre et son évolution et expose comment se sont fait les choix, des bases du système métrique mais aussi des matériaux des mesures étalons. C’est passionnant.

I saw that the novel 'Vanishing World' by Sayaka Murata was released in English translation in April of this year. So, I check ebooks.com and it's €25. I check other online sellers for physical books and it's available for €10.

I feel like I should buy the paperback for €10 (with free shipping) and then just pirate the epub. Same words, same format, same order, but it's MORE for the ones that don't need to be warehoused.

I don't expect that extra money is going to the author.

Feh's good, too. I haven't used it in a really long time, but it's decent. I like imv as well, but it doesn't have the nice thumbnail view mode that nsxiv does.

I love the fact that #mupdf supports reading #ePub files. I'm bummed that the version of #Zathura that comes on #debian is linked against poppler, rather than mu (so it can't read ePubs). :/

Composition des deux types de PDF générés en web-to-print que l'on peut retrouver sur deborderbollore.fr. On voit un PDF au format A4 en feuilles, et un PDF imposé en livret au format A5. Il y a deux donc deux PDF pour chaque contribution.

Does anybody know a good up to date tutorial about creating an #epub file from scratch, i.e. that explain the organization and content of the metadata files with enough detail?
I times to times I makes websites into ePub to read them and I didn't like the solutions I found so far.

For Linux users who want to remove DRMs from ebooks they've legally purchased, so as to read them on the ebook reader they've also legally purchased for their intended purpose: I've updated my setup to replace using #AdobeDigitalEditions through wine with the simple and marvelous libgourou library.
