Does anybody know a good up to date tutorial about creating an #epub file from scratch, i.e. that explain the organization and content of the metadata files with enough detail?
I times to times I makes websites into ePub to read them and I didn't like the solutions I found so far.

For Linux users who want to remove DRMs from ebooks they've legally purchased, so as to read them on the ebook reader they've also legally purchased for their intended purpose: I've updated my setup to replace using #AdobeDigitalEditions through wine with the simple and marvelous libgourou library.

Just released #Reliure 1.15.0 🎉 I implemented a #rearchive function for folders that follow #epub specs.

It means that if Reliure doesn't handle your use case 100% and you need to unzip your epub to do a few changes, Reliure can rezip it correctly (because rearchiving a folder to epub is more complicated than just using 7zip, yes)

Je viens de release #Reliure 1.15.0 🎉 J'ai implémenté une fonction de #réarchivage d'un dossier qui suit les specs #epub.

Ça veut dire que si Reliure ne gère pas votre cas à 100% et que vous devez dézipper votre epub pour faire quelques réglages, Reliure peut maintenant vous le re-zipper correctement (car oui, archiver un dossier en epub est un peu plus subtil qu'utiliser 7zip)

Really wishing there was a good textbook reading app for someone with both visual and cognitive #disabilities.

I just started a new course at Colorado Christian University, and this week's reading is 7 chapters from a book called Introducing Christian Doctrine—which is pretty heavy stuff. I've been struggling just to get through the first chapter.

I tried reading in Word with JAWS, but quick navigation keys keep getting disabled, and adding comments isn’t very accessible. So I switched to the ePub version in Bookworm, which lets me add bookmarks, named bookmarks, and comments. That’s been a huge help.

For notes, I’m using Joplin, which works well for organizing thoughts in Markdown. And when I hit a sentence I don’t understand—like “propounded dogmatically” (what even is that?)—I just open Copilot in the browser and ask for a plain-language explanation.

It’s not perfect, but it’s working. I just wish there were tools designed with both cognitive load and screen reader accessibility in mind. Reading theology is hard enough without fighting the tech too.

(My degree is in computer science, but theology is part of the core curriculum.)
