Have you ever seen apps like <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/KeePassXC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KeePassXC</span></a> or <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/opensnitch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>opensnitch</span></a>?Just try to tell me those make any attempt to match themselves to the theme of the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/distro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>distro</span></a> they are running under and I will laugh heartily. And the problem is not limited to those two apps, those are just two examples I can think off of the top of my head.</p><p>About the only OS that really seems to try and enforce consistency of appearance is <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a>, but they can only do that for apps they offer in their app store. If you download software from a web site it is anyone's guess if it will look like other <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/MacOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MacOS</span></a> programs, although often it does because in the Apple world there is only one set of UI standards, unlike in Linux where every distro and desktop has their own look and feel and AFAIK there are no standards enforced by anyone in most cases.</p>
